Let me rephrase from my last post...
Is there a way to test a board to see if it is doing what it should?
My board may be shorting out my thermostat at the heating element.

Do you have the wiring diagram?
Often it is stored inside the unit.
I cannot find one so the below is a bit of a guess.
Usually there is a relay on the control board which controls the power to the heating element.
Perhaps it's contacts are welded together so the element is always on.
You could unplug the unit and both wires at the board for the element.
They are usually on a separate plug and are often two blue wires.
Then measure across this plug.
It should be infinite ohms.
If it is zero or very low ohms then the relay contacts are welded together.
The above can tell you if the ioard is bad.
It does not tell you that the board is good as there may be problems with the electronics or a sensor/thermistor.
Thank you Denman. I 'll see what I can find.
