The ice maker has stopped producing ice. I have taken the following steps:

  • I checked the tray. There is no water in the tray.
  • I held the reset button until it beeped and left it overnight. No ice.
  • I unplugged the refrigerator for a few minutes then left it overnight. No ice.
  • I checked the rate of water from the water dispenser. It fills 3/4 cup in 6 seconds. The manual says it should take 10 seconds or less.
  • Ice I put in the hopper stays frozen, though I have not taken a temperature reading.
  • I removed the ice maker unit and left it out to defrost. There was no obvious ice build up. It still does not produce ice after reinstallation.


Further, sometimes when I come into the room I can hear a "knock ... knock ... knock" sound going continuously from the ice maker. It knocks every few seconds. It keeps going until I turn the ice maker off on the control panel.

This is a 9 cube model.

Please let me know if I should replace the ice maker, or if it could be something else wrong. Thanks!
