    Frost in Freezer blocking vents?

    Model Number: 59662839200
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

Noticed that the food compartment was warming up on my bottom freezer Kenmore refrigerator.
I could hear a fan blowing inside, but no air coming out of an air register in the food area.
I noticed frost in the freezer (lots of it) against back wall. I unplugged it for 24 hrs, and it worked well for about 10 days--then frosted up again--no air movement in food compartment.
Are there some common problems for this model?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Your Refrigerator should be going thru defrost cycles several times in a 24 hr period. It slowly builds up frost to the point of little or no air flow over the course of several days.
There are three components that regulate defrost on your on your model
    A. Defrost thermostat
    B. Defrost heater
    C. Defrost timer

You can easily test the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater yourself.

    **First Unplug the refrigerator**
Next: Remove the bottom drawer to gain easy access to the back panel and remove.
Now: The defrost thermostat needs to be checked in a cold state. Remove enough frost to gain access the top right hand corner.
Check for continuity, using a Volt Ohm Meter (OHM). If you fail to get continuity, replace.
Now test the defrost heater using the same method. If the test fails, replace. If both the defrost thermostat and the heater check out OK, replace the timer.

    Thermostat Part # 12001937

    Timer Part # 67001036

    Heater Part # 67002135

(The most common part that fails is the Defrost Thermostat.)

    Good luck with your project!
