I’m having trouble with my GE dryer (PVXR343EA0WW). It had been causing a high pitched sound and catching clothes (which would sometimes stop the dryer). I discovered that the front bearing and the lint trap assembly were completely torn up. So I replaced them along with the glides. This fixed the initial problems but have now caused two new more serious problems.

1. When set to Autodry, the dryer either doesn’t start up at all or starts and then stops after a few minutes. Sometimes it will start up again right away if I try. Other times it doesn’t start at all.
2. The dryer will turn on and stay on continuously if I set it to timed drying (although it will stay on past the timer). This would be ok I suppose if it would dry my clothes. But it doesn’t even heat up.

What could be causing the new problems? Is it worth it to call in a repair person or just bite the bullet and buy a new dryer?
