Big ball of ice over thermistor

This is what greeted me behind the panel. No cooling at all in the refrigerator.
I believe from my research that it is a sealed system leak.
Could it be anything else? If it is a sealed system leak, can I defrost and get a couple more months out of it? And from my research...not worth fixing.

I would let the ice melt off and then dry that area.

Then plug the unit in and see what happens.
The compressor should come on.
After about 10 minutes or so you should see a fairly even frost patter on the evaporator coils.

If you get no frost or frost in just one area (usually where the freon enters the evaporator coils) then you have a sealed system problem.
If OK then the problem is something else.
Be sure that the compressor is running. You can ususally hear it but also shuld feel it vibrating.
