    My Frigidaire oven won't heat

    Model Number: ES200
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

Hello. I have a Frigidaire oven that won't heat, so I'm hoping someone can please help me. The stovetop works, and the clock works and so does the oven light. My son took both
heating elements to a Appliance Store to be tested, and both were fine. I'm on a fixed income so I'm hoping it's a simple fix.

The model number you give is the model/type of control board.

    Please give the model number.
Often it is on the frame when you pull the warming/pots drawer out, or on the door frame or on the unit's frame by the door.

It could be a thermal cutoff, the oven sensor or the control board itself.

Thank you for your help. I found the model number in the oven drawer area. It is FEF364DWA

Below is a link to info on this unit
    http://b2b.frigidaire.com/support/Re...&Search=Search

It does not look like this unit has a thermal cutoff for the oven elements.

I would remove power from the unit and check the wires going from the control board to the elements.
    If OK
Check the oven sensor resistance. They call it a Resistance Temperature Detector. They have a chart for temperature versus resistance.
You should only have to check it at room temperature.
    If OK
Then I would say that the control board is shot.

Note: That the above is assuming that the stove top elements heat up correctly as you stated in your first post.

Thank you very much. Hopefully my son will understand how to check oven sensor resistance. Just out of curiosity, how much do control boards run? My stove is approx 10 years old so I don't want to spend a bunch of money on repairs if it makes more sense to put the money towards a new stove.

You can get the parts from this site.

The control board is about $80.00 including shipping.

Note that you may also need an overlay.
It is held on with double sided tape. Sometimes they come off nicely and sometimes some heating with a hair dryer helps.
But sometimes they get ruined trying to remove them.
A new overlay will run about 20 to 25 dollars.
Depends if it's shipping cost would be lumped in with the board/controller.

So you're connected with this site and sell parts?

I am not connected with this site.
I just volunteer here and another site and try to help a few people out.

You asked for prices so I looked at this site and another site.
This site had better prices so I went with it.

I will say that the parts sales on the site also support the forum.
So buying from them also supports the help site, that is free and does not require you to buy parts from it in order to get help.

I appreciate your help very much. My son got called to work so he hasn't made it back to my house to do any more troubleshooting.
