    ge VENT DRIVER ASSEMBLY question

    Model Number: PDW9980L0SS
    Brand: GE
    Age: More than 10 years

My dishwasher makes a high-pitched whirring sound when the cycle is finished, and you open and then close the unit. I have figured out that it is the vent driver assembly motor.
The technical manual says that you can turn the vent driver assembly off by hitting any key on the control panel. Hitting any key in fact stops the whirring sound, so i am very sure the part making the chirping whirring high pitched sound is the vent driver assembly.

My question is whether or not i can lubricate this part, and if so, what should I use to lubricate, or do i need to replace it altogether to stop the annoying sound without hitting a key on the control pad to turn the motor off?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts you may have on this subject.

    David

Are you sure it is the vent open/close motor or could it be the fan motor?
it should be on when the vent is open.

    Perhaps the following will help.
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...1ZxdzBFRkNmUEE
Look for 31 9137 GE Profi
It does not list your specific model but the PDW9900 should be close.

If you need lube I would use a good oil (like sewing machine or 3 in 1) or depending where you need the lube a lithium grease.
    I would not use WD-40

    Thanks!

will check it out...I think it's the fan motor...sounds like a fan that needs lube...is not the open close motor because that would only trigger the sound on opening and closing and it is clearly happening when the vent is open and the fan is on....thx for clarifying.....
