Thread: Bosch will not close water fill valve

Bosch will not close water fill valve

    Model Number: she53tf5uc/2
    Brand: Bosch
    Age: 1-5 years

Water just keeps filling until overflow float switch is activated.
Is this a fill valve problem? How is the water level sensed?

You say that it runs till the overflow switch is activated so it is not a valve problem because killing power to the valve does close it.

I cannot find any tech info on this unit so am guessing.

On most units the fill is just a timed event controlled by the control noard.

Some Bosch have a paddle wheel in the water inlet assembly that measures the flow.

A new valve didn't fix the problem. I cleaned a ton of gunk from the plastic box on the side of unit that the water flows thru. Still fills until it over flows. I guess it's a control board. Are those found in the door?

It looks like only the control panel/keyboard is in the door.
The control board looks like it is on the right hand side.

I cannot find any tech info on SHE units so cannot say how to get at it.

Below is a link to some service info perhaps the Bosch 800 Plus... and/or Bosch Dishwash... items may have some useful info for you

Just finished installing a new control board. All works normal again.
The quality of the appliances suck. This is the 3rd different appliance I've had to work on in its 2 years
At least there is this site and youtube. Thanks for the help.

You are welcome and thanks for getting back to us.
Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually fixed the unit instead of just suggestions about a cause.

And yes they definitely do not make them like they used to.

So after a few weeks of normal use, I get an E 11 code at the very end of the drying cycle. Everything I've read says it's a thermistor. So its time to pull this POS apart again. It also happens if I cancel a cycle at the end of the draining.
