Short in Refrigerator.

I checked the defrost heater per the video online and it tested at 33 ohms which is with the range stated on the video but when it kicks on it pops the GFI that it is plugged into. Can it read good and still be bad or is the problem elsewhere?

It is not recommended to use a GFI on a fridge.
Try it on a non GFI circuit.
This will tell you if it is really a short or just current leakage.
