whirlpool wall oven not maintaining temp

    Model Number: woc54c7abo1
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

i have a whirlpool wall oven and mcrowave. the oven will not maintain temp. it get to temp ok but then does not maintain it.

I though I would try the temp senor first. I thought I would to prepace the temp sensor frst. Cann this be done without having to take the unit out of the wall.

    thanks

Since you said it comes up to temperature I doubt it is an oven sensor problem.

Does it seem to take longer to reach the set temperature?

On most ovens the bake and broil elements cycle back and forth during bake so the first thing I would check is the elements.

    thanks

    the elements are fine

I agree with you on the sensor.

it it gets to temp and the same sensor is used to maintian temp it seems like the sesor would not be the problem.

I can not find a schematic ofr the oven so I cant determine what circiuts are involved in maintaining temp.

    thanks again.

do you know if the temp sensor can be replaced from the front.

    thanks

Note: I think there should be an E after the 4 in the model number.

I also cannot find any tech info on this unit.

I cannot say if the sensor can be chanched from the front but it should not be hard to find out.

    Flip the breaker off.
Remove the one or two screws that hold the sensor to the back of the oven.
Then gently pull the sensor forward.
With luck a connector will show up.

i try=ied to remove the temp sensor from the front on this model you have to take the top element off.
thanks 2 screws. then the temp sensor is mounted behind that 1 screw. i can get part of the wire out but it hangs up

so I think the back is were I have to go.
