Jenn Air Range oven not working after replacing control board

    Model Number: JES8850BAS
    Brand: Jenn-Air
    Age: 6-10 years

Help please! My oven stopped working, & none of the command buttons or clock works....totally black. Before the oven stopped working, I couldn't see the clock, but all of the buttons would beep & work. Since I knew them by heart, I have used the oven like this for years. But now...nothing. After reading everything I could find online, I ordered a new control board. Installed it....the clock is bright, but I can't set it...and nothing else works. If I buy the control panel (another $300), will this fix my oven? I feel like I've spent too much to stop, but don't want to keep digging myself into a bigger hole.

    Thank you.

Below is a link to a service manual for this unit.
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...kozZ1AzbDFtZ1E

It is "Electric Slide-In Range JES..."

First I would unplug the unit and then the panel/keyboard from the control board.
Clean the connector and then re-connect it and give it a try.

I am not sure what type of connector it is.
I think it is just a ribbon cable qwith the copper trails exposed.
These can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use a pen eraser as they are to course.

If it has a connector on it then use electronics connector cleaner and a tooth brush. Just be sure that all the solvent has evaporated off before re-connevting.

If the above does nothing then you could check your panel with a meter,
The cable outputs are in the manual.

Thank you. Mine doesn't have the copper trails exposed. We did try to clean the connector & reconnect....no change....still just see the clock, but can't change anything & no buttons work. I don't have a manual, but will try to see what the reading are when I get home.

I think you had two separate issues. I think the control board with the display has been bad for quite some time. If you put a new control board in and the touchpad buttons still don't respond then the touchpad is most likely also bad. I don't believe this style touchpad can be tested with a meter but I could be wrong. Let us know what you find.

This is the touchpad control panel for your model range:
