Samsung dryer won’t run for more then 3 minutes

    Model Number: Dv42h5200ep
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

Dryer will only run for 3 minutes then goes to 1 minute (cool down) then end and turn off. It does this on the sensor cycles and the Manuel cycles. I’ve cleaned the sensor bars, checked vent tubing and unplugged for 5 minutes. Didn’t help, now we did move the dryer further away from the vent and we are using the aluminum flexible tubing. Could that be the problem? Please help!!! Ty

To check for a venting problem:

Unplug the unit and disconnect it from the vent system.
    Now try a run.
If it now dries OK odds are the vent system needs checking/cleaning.
Be sure to check that the louvers on the outside of the house open correctly.

If you do not want any lint in the house.
    Take a pair of pantyhose.
Put one leg into the other and then attach this to the dryer's vent.
Leave enough room so the pantyhose can balloon out like a windsock.

Both the above will let you check the temperature and the air flow.

Note: The above is not recommended for gas dryers due to carbon monoxide concerns.

    Tried it

Ok looks like I didn’t have it hooked up right to the vent system. Readjusted it and now it’s running and counting down but looks like it’s not heating up now.

Could be that the high limit and/of the thermal cutoff on the heater assembly is blown.

    Check them with a meter.

If the hi-limit is blown then also replace the hi-limit as it should not blow if the high limit is operating correctly.

Also check the heater, they are usually in the 8 to 12 ohm range.
If OK then check from each side of the heater to the case, both should be infinite ohms.
