    GE PDW8480J10SS Inside Machine Dry

    Model Number: PDW8480J10SS
    Brand: GE
    Age: Less than 1 year

The Machine has barely been used. After the cycle which seems to go to completion the inside is dry. I can hear water emptying into the sink drain at points during the cycle a repair man thought that it was the control board but didn't have the part on him. So I bought one a replaced myself. Still no water...spaying inside the machine (dry detergent laying in machine). Could it be a pump? Other suggestions?

Below is a link to a manual. Although a different model the pump system looks the same..
You may have to join the site to download the manual.
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzI...ZaOFVIZDA/view

Open the door during the cycle to be sure that water is actually getting into the unit.
Also that it is getting enough water,
This can be checked by adding hot water after the each fill. Just be careful to not overfill it re: trip the overfill float switch.
Then if it washes OK you know it is a water fill issue.

    Water not entering unit

Well I know the water is not actually entering the unit. After the cycle their is dry detergent laying on the bottom of the unit. I can just hear water going out through the kitchen drain after the cycle.

This is what I find very confusing.
The water comes in from the left side of the unit but as far as is pumped out of the sump in the center floor of the unit.
So how can you hear water being pumped out when no water is entering the unit.
The water has to go into the unit in order to be pumped out.
Could it be that you are hearing just the pump motor running and not water.

First if the unit has a separate water supply shut off, make sure someone has not turned it off without you knowing.

    Remove the kick plate.

Check that the overfill/float switch is activated.
    If OK
Place a meter across the water valve.
When the unit should be filling you should see 120 volts across the valve.
If you do and get no water then the valve needs replacing.

Could also be that the screen filter on the input side of the valve is clogged solid but this usually happens over time to you would have seen poor wash results.

If you do not see 120 volts then it could be a bad wire/connection, a bad overfill switch or a bad control board.
