My Amana fridge has a very peculiar problem:

Two months ago we went away for a few days. When we came back we found the fridge has died and all the food was spoiled. We had to throw away everything.

Next morning we called a technician, but by the time he came the fridge and the freezer were working properly and everything was fine. The technician cleaned some ariways and went away without finding anything wrong.

Since then the fridge was working fine, but last week again we went away for a few days.

We were surprised to find AGAIN that the fridge stopped working and all the food was spoiled.

And AGAIN, next morning the fridge was ice cold and is workinh properly for the past few days.

It seems that when the fridge is left unopenned for a few days, it stops cooling.

Does anybody know what could cause this?

I failed to mention that it is a US- Amana model GB1924PEKW.

Sounds like a control board problem but may also be a thermistor problem.

Since the thermistor is a lot cheaper I would replace that first.

I am assuming that both the fresh food and freezer sections got too warm.
If it was just the fresh food section that got too warm then the damper has to be added to the possible causes.
