I am trying to remove the ice maker in our Samsung refrigerator, the ice maker part number is DA97-15217D. I found a video showing how to replace this same model. I am not able to put the refrig in defrost mode. Ryan is the technician on the video. He said to hold down the energy saver button, then the refrig button for 8 secs, which I did. The "water" light does not go out, even if I hold the buttons for longer than 8 seconds. Then, he presses the Fridge button 4 times, until the display reads "Fd". Our refrig does not perform this function. Instead, when I press the refrig button, the temp display changes. Can you advise why our refrig is not cycling through as Ryan showed, ending with the FD symbol, and what I need to do to properly put the fridge in defrost mode? I do not want to do anything that may damage the fridge.
FYI - I notice that the refrig display on the video is different from our display. The refrig in the video has the following display -
LEFT SIDE RIGHT SIDE
Energy Saver Alarm
Freezer Fridge
Ice Type/Water Ice off
The displays on our refrig are as follows -
LEFT SIDE RIGHT SIDE
Freezer Fridge
Alarm Lighting
Energy Saver Ice Maker Off
Would that have anything to do with the fridge not going into defrost mode? I would prefer doing this myself, but I am not a technical person. I would prefer not having to pay a techician to come do this. All I am wanting to do is to remove the ice maker so it can defrost. I would appreciate any assistance you can give.
Thanks.
