LG Washer Won't Spin, Error Code CE

Our front load washer will not spin and has error code "CE". It was making a loud bumping sound while spinning over the past few weeks. Any thoughts on the problem?

The service information says the CE error code is an "over current error". The main pwb assembly is out of order or the winding in the stator assembly is short-circuited. Does the tub spin freely and quietly when you turn it by hand?

Yes it does spin freely and quietly.

I would do some investigating to try to find out what was making the "loud bumping sound while spinning". It could definitely be causing or relating to your problem. I have seen some other people find that a water leak shorted the stator and then that fried the main control board. You will need to do some more checking to try to narrow down the problem(s). See the attached image for checking the stator.
