[FIXED] Frigidaire FGF316DSD no gas to oven

    Model Number: FGF316DSD
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hey All,

My FGF316DSD oven quit working. It used to take about 3 seconds after turning the knob before the gas came on and now I got nothing.

I assume the ignitor is bad, what say you?

    Thanks

The gas valve won't open in the oven until the ignitor gets hot enough. I would unplug the range, and remove the bottom panel in the oven. While you have access to the ignitor, you can do a visual inspection of the ignitor. Look at the grey center piece and see if it has any breaks or cracks. If it does, it will need to be replaced. If the ignitor looks okay visually, I would plug the range back in and turn the oven on. Look to see if the ignitor starts to glow orange at all. If the ignitor glows orange, then that indicates that it is receiving power. Over time ignitors will start to go bad and not glow as hot as they used to. This will cause them to glow orange, but not get hot enough to open the gas valve for safety reasons. If the ignitor doesn't glow at all, then either the ignitor is bad, or the thermostat that sends power to the ignitor is bad. If you have a volt meter you can test for voltage going to the ignitor. Unplug the range and the bottom panels back in the oven when you are done. Let me know what you find.

This is the ignitor for your range:

    Hey Doc,

So I got down on my hands and knees and couldn't see a dang thing! While lying on the floor I was able to see that the igniter wasn't getting hot at all. So I pulled it out and it was broken, no need to run a multi-meter on that one!

It was a quick job putting in the new Uni-Igniter and Bingo Bango we were cooking with gas... literally!

Now I am starting to question my career choices to this point

    Thanks a bunch.
