Oven not heating above 183 degrees

    Model Number: 970-698583
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

Because the oven temperature doesn’t rise higher than 183 degrees, I tested the temperature sensor and got a reading of 1070 ohms, not the recommended 1080-1090 ohms. Is that reading telling me that the sensor is defective?

I doubt the oven sensor is bad.

    Are both elements OK?

Thanks, Denman for your quick reply and the technical manual link.
I’ve ordered the sensor, in case.
The multimeter got 17 and 23 ohms for the elements. Wasn’t sure if that was good or bad. They looked fine and the continuity test was good.

Odds are high that it is an oven control board problem

There might be a problem with the oven sensor.
