[FIXED] Front display panel issue on GSL25XGWASS

    Model Number: GSL25XGWASS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

We've had our GSL25XGWASS for 6 years now. All of a sudden the digital panel on the freezer door went dark and started making a nonstop clicking sound that repeats every 0.75 seconds. Everything is working fine except the dispenser. Fridge works, freezer works, ice maker keeps making ice, I just can't dispense anything or control the temp. I researched the issue and ended up replacing the main board. The problem remains so that was definitely not it.

I found another thread here that mentions replacing the front panel WR55X10860. Unfortunately the thread wasn't updated. My question is, is my next step definitely the panel or is there something else I should be looking at?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you check the wiring at the bottom of the door?

AHA! That did the trick. The connector had some obvious water damage. Had to clean it up and fix a wire that was barely making contact with the pin. THANKS A LOT!

Good deal, nothing like a FREE repair! It is common for water to drip down from the water dispenser and then corrode the wire connect at the bottom of the door on these models.

Spoke too soon. It worked perfect for a couple of days and now it shows "0000" flashing on the panel and wont dispense. Tried unplugging it for 10 min but issue remains.

I would double check the connection at the bottom of the door. If the connector was corroded too badly, then you might have to cut off the connector, and splice, solder, and heat shrink the wires together. Let me know what you find.

I replaced the water inlet valve and now have the same issue all the sudden, but it appears the fridge is not cooling. what wire did you fix and did it correct the issues once and for all?
