Hi everyone. I have a GE Side by Side that is about 14 months old (2 months out of warranty - go figure) that has developed an apparent issue. I don't have a lot of experience with appliance repair/troubleshooting, so I'm wondering if you might be able to provide some input.
Woke up this morning to a 'clicking' sound coming from the freezer every couple seconds. Opened the door to find it was the ice maker. Noticed there were some larger than normal ice cubes halfway 'dumped' into the ice container. Shut off the ice maker, pulled out the ice cubes, the ice maker 'fingers' returned to their normal position. Turned the ice maker back on, clicking sound was gone, I figured all was well. Then I noticed a few minutes later that the freezer was still running. OK, maybe it hasn't caught up yet from the door being open for a while. 20 minutes later, still running. Unplug for a few minutes to 'reset'? Plug back in, 1 hour later and its still running. Changing the temperature setting has no effect. Freezer is below -10F regardless of set temperature.
Any help/ideas where to start? What other information is necessary for troubleshooting? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
