I'm working on a GE Profile fridge (model TPX24BI) that's about 23 years old. The freezer works great, but the fridge is not as cold as it should be (around 45-48 degrees F). I have been told it needs a new thermostat and that the thermostat (part # WR9X521) is no longer available. This refrigerator has wood accents on the doors to match the cabinets in the rest of the kitchen, and it fits perfectly into the niche for it in the cabinets, so we really don't want to replace the fridge if we don't have to.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to adapt a different thermostat (perhaps by changing the wiring terminals, etc.) to work in place of the discontinued one.

Thank you,
