In March I bought a used dryer from a used appliance store. In August it started having a burning smell, and then quite heating all together. I look at the heating element and it was charred black. After order a new heating element I realized they had the wrong one on it. Putting the correct one on would be difficult as well, because they cut, and taped wires that were supposed to attach to the heating element. Does this matter? Or could this have been the reason it went out in the first place? I am concerned that it could have started a fire.
