    Dryer problem

    Model Number: Wed4800xq
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

    Drum doesn't turn , belt and idler pully ok, motor shaft spins freely, heat comes on when turn on and stays on even when u open door glowing red

    If the element is glowing when the dryer isn't running, then you most likely have a shorted heating element. You should leave the dryer unplugged until you get the dryer repaired. Most likely when the heating element shorted out, it caused the dryer to overheat and it probably blew one or both of the thermal fuses. You will need to check to see if the fuses have continuity, there is one above the heating element on the side of the heater box, and there is a small white fuse near the blower wheel. The heating element is also most likely shorted and will need to be replaced. Check those things and let me know what you find.

    Also, your dryer is missing a digit at the end of the model number. Make sure to get the full model number from the tag on the dryer, it should be located around the door jamb area.

    Dr thanks for getting back would that cause drum motor not to power on

    Yes it will cause the dryer not to run because it is a fire hazard.
