[FIXED] Whirlpool Dryer lint fire thermistor blew

    Model Number: ggw9200lw1
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

My dryer stopped and smelled burnt so I disassembled it completely and vacuumed a blanket of lint in the floor of the dryer I noticed a couple of wires that looked charred so I replaced the wiring harness. The code was E2 so I replaced the thermistor and now the code is E1 Thermistor again any ideas ? I tested the fuse and the cycle switch and they are fine I retested the thermistor and the new one is bad too ??? is this possible to get a bad one or is it blowing them because of some other problem ??

Have you tried checking the thermistor with an Ohm meter? It is not likely that both of the thermistors are bad. If the wiring is good, then the problem could be with the control board. Do you remember what part the burnt wires went to?

I tested the thermistor the fuse and the high limit thermostat and the flame sensor seems to be ok. I did not test the new part before I put it in. But it tests bad now I asked a parts guy and he said it is possible to get a bad one all though they will not take returns on an electrical an electrical part where I bought it so I ordered one from someone else this time and will test it when I get it. Thw wiring harnes went from the heater to the thermistor and fuse then under the blower up the side of the dryer to the plug to the board it was a little melted by the heater closest to the thermistor and that is what blew. I think it was ok but i replaced it anyway. It seems that was the only damage. just a blanket of burnt lint that covered everything I think it protected all of the components.

It is not very likely that you would have two bad thermistors with the exact same problem. What did the thermistor ohm out at?

I did but was missinformed and thought the olm's should read 0 when in fact they should read 11 so I called a repair person for nothing all though he found a wire that had popped off so It wasn't a total loss . But that is what I was going to check next was the wires going to the controll panel .
