Talking Samsung Electric Dryer won't heat

    Model Number: DV219AEBXAA
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

My 1 1/2 year old Samsung electric dryer stopped heating. Would your experts have an idea what common things go wrong & what I can do to possibly prevent future problems, Thanks.

There are many things that can cause an electric dryer not to heat. The two most common things that will cause a dryer not to heat would be a bad heating element or a blown thermal fuse, but there a lot of other things that could cause it not to heat (bad control board, thermostat, power outlet, ect). Probably the first thing to check would be to see if the heating element has continuity.

As far as what usually causes a heating element to go bad or a thermal fuse to blow at only 1 1/2 years old is usually a problem with clogged or blocked venting.

The aluminum venting coming out the back of the dryer was crushed at least 50%, so I replaced that--Can you tell me how & what to remove to check the element?

This is how to take the dryer apart and remove the element:
    1. Unplug the dryer
    2. Remove the top of the dryer--2 phillips screws in the rear
    3. Remove the screws for the control console and lift it out
    4. Remove the screws that secure the front assembly (two are in front when the door is open)
    5. Disconnect the door switch
    6. Remove the front assembly. You now have access to the heater and related parts.
See this post for more information on how to take the dryer apart.

See the video below for how to test the heating element:
