    F 50 Error

    Model Number: WTW6700TW1
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

So I have the dreaded F50 error on my Cabrio. I see from a little research, this is not uncommon. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I'm not sure if I need a new machine/motor controller or not. I found some very vague instructions that explain what to test with my multimeter, but I could use some more detailed instruction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Tge rrym turns fine by the way. Nothing obstructing its movement.

If the drum turns freely, then this error code can be caused by a bad main control board, bad RPS sensor, or a wiring problem. I have not seen a good way to test this with a multi meter to determine which of the two is causing the problem. I would start by replacing the RPS sensor because it is much cheaper, and then replace the main control board if the problem still exists. Let me know what you find.

These are the parts for your washer:

    Machine & Motor Control Board - W10189966

    Rotor Position Sensor - W10178988
