Whirlpool dishwasher gushes water under door during wash cycle

    Model Number: WDF540PADM 3
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

I have a 2-yr-old whirlpool dishwasher in great condition that started developing a leak at the front door. It always seems to happen after filling and shutting off and just as the wash cycle begins for the first time. The leak started small and got progressively worse. Now, it literally gushes from the front door. I have replaced the jet arm at the bottom, checked the water level shut-off, and replaced the seal. Nothing seems to help...except, it does not leak when running cold top water instead of warm or hot water. Weird, I know! Took the front door off to inspect. It almost seems like the water is being forced up through the shrouded holes in the front door inner panel. Not sure what those are? Maybe breath holes? Hoping someone has had a similar issue and can help!

Do you have a video that you can post of the issue?

Sorry, I do not have video. But here is what happens: Dishwasher fills fine and then there is a short break (2-3 seconds). Then the wash cycle begins and it sounds like someone is spraying a hose against the inside of the door. Water gushes out between the door and the floor of the dishwasher like a seal is missing. However, I don't think my model has a lower door seal. I can fill a bread pan in about 4 seconds with the water coming out.

    Thanks for your help!

Do all of the hose connections between the lower, middle, and top spray arms look good?

Something must be spraying water where it is not supposed to come from. If you know someone with a waterproof camera like a GoPro, you might try putting a GoPro and a waterproof light in the dishwasher to see what it is doing.
