Water leaking out under refrigerator with the ice maker NOT conected.

    Model Number: GB2FHDXWQ02
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 1-5 years

About a month ago, water started to pool up in front of the refrigerator coming mysteriously from the freezer. Water is leaking into the freezer and freezes in a sheet in the bottom, then starts running out. I have no idea where it is coming from, the ice maker has never been hooked up. Its been defrosted once which works for a couple days before the water starts flowing again.

    Thanks for any help!

It sounds like your leak is most likely coming from the defrost drain. Unplug the refrigerator and remove the lower back panel. At the bottom of the evaporator coil is a defrost drain. Water goes down this drain into a tray and evaporates when it is working correctly. It sounds like your drain might be iced up and/or clogged. Take some hot water and pour it down the drain until the ice is melted. Once the ice is gone, the water should flow freely down the drain, it is doesn't then you could have something clogging the tube. You would need to inspect the tube from the back side of the refrigerator. Let me know what you find.
