Washer stops in spin, burning smell, wont drain

LAT8824AAE washer agitates but gets to drain and spin cycle and just stops. Won't drain or spin. It starts to but then stops after a few seconds. Burning smell. Changed the motor, motor springs, drain pump, brake assembly, tub bearing and belts. Checked all hoses for blocks. Still stops and smells like burning. Husband says it could be the timer which we changed a few years ago, or lid switch. I don't want to invest in these if they're not going to work but I love this old washer. Any ideas?
