[FIXED] Frigidaire FGHD2433KF1 Grinding Noise When Draining

Good day,

My unit is approx 18 months old. As of late there is a loud grinding type of nose heard when the unit drains the water. I took it apart and removed the drain pump and checked all drainage lines. Lines are clear, and pump looked good. No missing or damaged teeth and the teeth spin freely for about 1/2 turn and then I feel resistance as it feels its engaging with the gears.

Is that normal?
Any other ideas on a fix?

Jeff,

There are no gears inside the drain pump motor. The motor normally spins freely like you describe and you can feel the magnets engage at certain points. If there is nothing stuck in the pump, then the pump may have an internal failure that is causing it to make that noise. Sometimes if the seals and bearings in the pump go bad they will make a grinding noise like you are describing. Let me know what you find.
