Ah I just realized they offer a 5 year warranty on the touch pad so I may still be covered. Will reach out to them.

That’s good to know. 100% poor component quality with the capacitive touch panel
Thanks for this piece of advice.
I live in Canada and have a 2018 vintage JMW3430DP which has been a total pain in the ass. The microwave light fist burnt out which was repaired on warranty. Then I had the oven side of the glass screen not work with the F2E1 error. I found an appliance warehouse which sold a replacement for 300 ish USD. Worked fine for a year but now the microwave side of the screen is giving me issues. I used a heat gun to blast it from behind and now seems to work. While I was heating I used a small pick and "wiggled" the circuit board a tiny bit. Who knows if that did anything.
Questions are:
-Did your heating from behind do a long lasting repair?
-When you called Jenn Air they actually sent you a free replacement? That sounds very unlike Jenn Air.
Also, has anyone found if there's another reason why these glass panels are so un reliable? Maybe a bad power source in the unit itself?
I'm close to torching this POS and starting fresh.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Sorry for taking so long to answer. For some reason, I did not get an email notice of a reply like I usually do. So......with my heating trick, both from behind and front, I got the screen to allow a reset from the front panel. That was new, as a power cut was usually required. It had a message that said "press to reset". I'd do that, and it would work for a couple days. Repeat as needed. Meanwhile, a new screen (free) from Jennaire arrived in the mail. I found a local applicance repair place, that is listed as authorized by JennAire, who quickly watched me do the install and verify it worked for $60. Three years ago, a different place charged me $150. This authorized install is required for JennAire to warranty the part. Here's the fun part.....my plan was to reinstall the old one and just limp along resetting it. Save the new one for when it's REALLY needed upon a catastrophic failure of the old one. But during the repairman's visit, the old one slipped off the island and hit the floor hard. After that, it didn't work at all. So much for my plan. So now I have a new idea I want to bounce off this community. The panel can be powered down with a switch on the blue (power) wire going from the panel to inside the main cabinet (top, above the microwave). It's part of a 3 wire bundle. Power, ground, and serial data. So, if I install my own switch on this blue wire and locate it inside the wood cabinet above the oven, I can easily turn off the panel at night, or when on vacation. The question is, will this extend the life of the panel by approximately double the typical 2-3 years they seem to last? We bought the unit in 2017. First failure was in late 2020. The next failure was now, 2023. A 3 year life on the average. It's powered up all the time. Does it degrade by being powered up? Any thoughts on this idea? I already have the switch wire extensions run because that's how I used to reset the old broken panel. That saved me frequent trips to the basement electrical panel. Or, does the electrostatic sandwhich this thing is made from degrade just from sitting in the box, like a bad shelf life? Maybe I should Google touch screen aging or something. Thoughts?

I still can't believe you received a free panel from JennAir! What did you say? I'll be calling them shortly because the heat trick doesn't last long. I now heat it from the front which saves a lot of time and it lasts a couple days so at least I have that.
I tried holding 2 keys down but can't get it to reset like you've mentioned.
I am now trying to source out a touchscreen repair shop. It's gotta be fixable by someone right?
As for your degrading over time theory, I honestly have no clue. I'd be hesitant to start unplugging the screen when the rest of the oven is ON versus flipping the breaker. These ovens ae more complex than I thought.
I'm still so frustrated that something like this is giving so many people troubles!!
I don't hold two keys down to reset it. I hold two keys down for 40 seconds and it reproduces the F2E1 stuck key error. I believe there is a breakdown of the thin dielectric layer between the charged grids inside the capacitive touch screen. The stupid error code should say actually which button is stuck....it knows. Maybe while the glass is still hot try gently prying upwards to get more seperation between the two grid panels and let it cool that way.
I was really nice on the phone, told them I love JennAire and believe in their high-end products. Told them I don't want to replace them but I feel in this one case JennAire owns the problem and I'd appreciate them living up to their reputation. Our whole kitchen is JennAire and I don't want GE contaminating our look and feel of the kitchen. OK, I layed it on thick, but sincerely. Honestly, I am really good at this. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
The panel doesn't know where it's 5 volts are coming from. So switching it off at the blue wire is no different than the breaker. The only thing sophisticated inside the oven itself is a circuit board that decodes the serial data coming from the panel. No data, no action. It's all the same.

Thanks for the advice. I may try a bit of pressure on the front glass. I'll report back if anything comes of it.
As for your power cut out trick, I suppose when you analyze it like that, it makes sense. My breaker is a couple steps away in the garage so I'm happy enough throwing it when required. Don't cell phone screens run on the same principle? Why do these Jenn Air panels break down if a phone does not?
As for calling the help line, I'll do my best!
Cheers.
I wonered the same thing about cellphone screens. You're right, they are the same technology. I assume their manufacuring processes, materials, and designs are more thoroughly tested. This would include aging, temperature cycling, thermal shock, burn-in, fatigue testing. I doubt Whirlpool would go through that trouble, and it shows in the end product.
After phoning the help line my option is to have the screen replaced for 1500 ish which includes a 1 year warranty. When the warranty expires I can then choose, on a yearly basis, to renew the warranty for around 500 bucks a year (Canadian dollars).
I'm gonna heat gun this baby until I can't heat gun anymore! In the meantime, I'll try to dig around Vancouver for a "touchscreen repair dude." Maybe I'll get lucky...
If anyone knows of such an electrical repair unicorn, please post. I'll check back on this forum from time to time and see if there's updates.
Again, thanks all for the input.
I had the same F2E1 stuck key problem with my Jenn Air microwave. Followed the guidance to open the control box. All connections looked ok but proceeded to remove each, clean with alcohol, and reconnected them. Powered back up and no more error. This is the 2nd time this problem happened, first a couple years after purchase when unit was under warranty, then again earlier this year. I had just returned from 3 months wintering in Mexico and the house was empty and at times temps dropped down to the 30s or below I expect. I am thinking that the system cannot handle cold temps. I had put off getting the unit fixed until this week when I arranged for a service tech to come out this morning. Before he came he called me to give me a heads up the cost for part and labor would be about $1,400. I called off the repair and started searching for answers and found this site and thread. I expect the problem the first time was this as well. I wonder how many customers have had to shell out $$$$ for what may actually be a pretty easy fix of a problem that should not have occurred in the first place. I expect I might see the problem again and if so will try the fix again, but if it doesn't work I will absolutely not have a new board put in because it's pretty clear there is a defect in the product line. Sincerely thanks to those that got this thread going!!!
New question for you experts dealing with the dreaded F2E1 stuck/shorted key. I finally caved and got a new touch display ($1200 USD!!!) and it's working again however the new display did not come with the sheet metal piece that was attached to the old panel. I'd guess it's some sort of moisture barrier or heat shield. Whirlpool will give me no advice on whether to reinstall it onto the new panel. Does anyone know if I should install this part, or is this piece possibly causing more harm than good, and better to just leave it off?
Jenn Air combo oven/microwave JMW2430DP00
I just want to chime in quick to remind people to check our site for parts if you need a new control panel. For instance on this one, our price at Parts Dr for part # W10887855 is currently $750 vs $1200. Huge savings!

I've got the JJW2830DS double wall oven, installed in 2015.
I've gotten the F2/E1 error a good handful of times due to steam from the top oven. It's bit me a few times cooking holiday dinner for the family when I try to use both ovens.
If I cook food in the top oven that produces steam, it escapes the door seal and coats the touch screen. With steam across the touch screen, it errors out and shuts down. Who thought it'd be a good idea to put a capacitive touch screen above an oven door? Why can't we just have physical knobs?
Last holiday I jerry-rigged a tin-foil baffle to route the steam away from the touch screen, and it worked.
But last night I absent-mindedly used the top oven to roast some chicken, potatoes and onions, and it was CLANG CLANG CLANG F2/E1. Shame on me for trying to use the other 50% of my double oven! So frustrating! I had to circuit-breaker reset it several times and move the food to the lower oven, and dinner was late.
A couple years ago I made the fatal mistake of running the self-cleaning cycle in the top oven. It cooked the board. Cooked it dead. I had to get the part replaced.
This oven is so poorly designed, it's insane. Self-cleaning kills the oven? Steam kills the oven? Good lord.
So today I started shopping for a replacement. I've had it. I can't believe it's come to having to replace such an expensive appliance after just 8 years, but here we are. I can't risk ruining another holiday dinner.
I just thought I'd see if I could find out anything new from you fine folks before I pull the trigger on a replacement. I'm not seeing anything new, and definitely not hearing that Jenn-Air is stepping up to make things right.
I'll never buy another Jenn-Air appliance.
All our appliances were installed when the house was built in 2015, and they were all Jenn-Air. The fridge leaked and warped our hardwood floors. Jenn-Air literally replaced the entire fridge because they couldn't fix the old one. The floors of course are not their responsibility, right? The dishwasher heating element died after 4 years, and the wheels are constantly corroding and falling off the lower tray.
Just junk. Junk junk junk. What a waste, all heading to a landfill near you.
Is there any reason to think that a new OEM replacement part W11236888 (control panel) would be of any higher quality than the original part that is failing?
I personally don't think any improvements were made with later series boards. The manufacturer is the same. All the components appear to be the same except for serial numbers etc. also add in the amount of people like me who have installed 1 or more boards and still have the same failures it all adds up to a lousy electronic unit. Expensive at that!!
Maybe it is a design problem too with reports of how the steam and heat cooks the board. Who knows.
As for me, because we don't use the lower oven too much, I keep putting the top unit into demo mode and use the microwave and small oven to warm things up. When I require the lower oven, I reset the breaker and heat gun the front panel for a couple minutes. Sometimes it works for an hour, sometimes 2 days but inevitably the shitty error returns and I'm back to using only half of my premium branded, good looking & expensive Jenn-Air oven.
I am on a similar boat. First time on the thread. I started getting the F2/E1 code on my Jenn Air single oven. I tried the demo trick and I was able to get rid of the F2/E1 error. But when I tried to bake, I can hear the heating element start and stop after 1 second. Tried broil as well and same thing happened. Only the right side touch screen is not working. My next step will be to open the control board to reconnect any loose connectors.
Thoughts on why the bake/broil function are not working?
I am also in Vancouver, BC. Anyone found a third party repair man?
Sorry to hear you've joined the elite Jenn-Air F2/E1 club.
It seems when we put the unit in demo mode to get rid of the message and then out of that mode it somehow disables the entire lower oven. It gives the impression it will function but it won't. Our top unit (microwave & small oven) does work after the trick so I'm gonna nurse this issue for a while.
Funny that you have the right side touch screen. Mine is the left this time but was the right on the previous screen.
They must be making a killing on replacements and the yearly warranty to cover breakage. Crooks!
I have not found a third party repair yet in Vancouver.
Keep in touch!
Hi Parts Dr! I currently own a Jenn-Air JMW2430IL03 which is experiencing the same issue. I am trying to find the correct part to purchase on your website, but none of the panels are coming up as compatible or it says "we're not sure if this item fits". Does the W10887855 that you listed above fit mine as well, or is there a different part that I should purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
