    LG "Craft Ice" Maker Issue

    Model Number: LRMVC2306S
    Brand: LG
    Age: 1-5 years

The "Craft Ice" maker in our LG fridge was producing misshapen ice balls and then wifey found a piece of plastic (see photo) in her iced tea. I think the piece is broken off one of the lever arms that actuates the ice dump (see red circle). Of course, the warranty ran out about a month or so ago.

Here are my questions and thanks in advance:

A video on YT shows how to R/R a similar 'up under the freezer drawer' LG ice maker, is this done the same way?

    2. Does this broken part mean that the entire unit [AEQ73449901] has to be replaced?

    3. Is there a repair manual for this fridge, or do techs just R/R everything?

    1. Most are removed in a similar process. We don't have any experience with your model refrigerator yet.

    2. Yes the entire ice maker assembly has to be replaced.

    3. We were not able to locate a service manual for this model number.

    Ryan,

Thanks for responding. I concluded that I should just order a new unit and once it arrives I think I can figure out how it is replaced (I am an engineer). That said, do the appliance repair folks who are identified by the manufacturer (in this case LG) have manuals? I just find this whole thing mind boggling in the sense that something simple needs to be so complicated.

They do not produce service manuals for every model. Let us know how the repair goes.
