Periodic noise from KitchenAid top freezer refrigerator

My circa-2003 KitchenAid fridge periodically makes an odd sound, usually after the door has been open for a while and then closed. I made a recording of it which you can hear here https://recorder.google.com/b2ea1a90...7-82ff5241968c. You may have to crank the volume up to hear it, its a bit faint. It continues on and off randomly for a few minutes and then quiets down. The noise seems to be coming from the back, somewhere near the top I think.

There is no problem with the fridge or freezer maintaining the correct temperature or any other issues other than the odd noise. This has been going on for several years.

Any ideas what this might be? Its irksome but I can live with it, but if its something simple it may be worth calling my local appliance repair guy.

I'm sorry, I am not sure what the cause of that noise is. It could be a normal sound that the refrigerator makes.

Thanks for having a listen. There was a time when it didn't make that noise, so i don't think its normal per se, but as I said the fridge works fine so its just a minor annoyance.

Let us know if you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from. There are not too many moving parts on this refrigerator
