[FIXED] GE PFSS6PKXESS Ice Maker Nonop

    Model Number: PFSS6PKXESS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

My ice maker stopped working. I'd previously replaced the unit due to the "internal gears stripping" problem—a little over a year ago—so I'm reasonably confident it's OK mechanically.

The water dispenser in the door works—dispenses nice cold water—and the ice dispenser works, i.e. it chugs away and rotates, but obviously no ice comes out because there's none in the bucket.

    Replaced filter, no change.

What's the likely culprit here—the water inlet?

    TIA!

Is there any ice in the ice maker try currently?

When you replaced the ice maker did you buy it from a reputable source?

Check the temperature in the ice maker compartment by leaving a thermometer in the ice bucket. If the ice maker compartment is not cold enough, it will not make ice.

Thermometer showed 14ºF in the bucket.

Somehow, I did manage to get two cycles of cubes yesterday afternoon, but none since.

I went ahead and ordered a new unit ($80), just in case that's the problem (again).

    14F should be good.

I would also start by replacing the ice maker. For $80 you are probably getting an aftermarket or refurbished ice maker. That could by why it didn't last long.

This is the GE ice maker here:

Yes, it is the same as DA97-07365G. But even those, are much more than $80.

    We shall see.

How does the icemaker dole out water into the tray? Is it controlled at the inlet valve?

The ice maker works with the main control board to send the signal to the water inlet valve to send water to the ice maker.
