Water and ice build up in bottom of freezer and fridge

    Model Number: M1TXEMMWW00
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: More than 10 years

We're having a water and ice build up in the bottom of the freezer and fridge beneath the crisper drawers. Any ideas or recommendations before having to call an appliance repair person?

It looks like your defrost drain is frozen. To fix this you will need to unplug the refrigerator and then remove the rear evaporator cover. With the cover removed pour warm water on the ice at the bottom of the evaporator coil. Soak up the water using a towel, and repeat until the ice is melted and the water can freely flow down the drain.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks - I could use a little more help in how exactly I do this. Where is the rear evaporator cover located? Is it easy to remove? And then where is the evaporator coil located?

It is in the rear of the freezer, #16 in the attached diagram below. The evaporator coil will be obvious once you have this cover removed.
