[FIXED] LG Range keeps heating beyond the temp set for the oven - to over 500 degrees

    Model Number: LRE30453SB
    Brand: LG
    Age: More than 10 years

I set my range to 425 to preheat, and ended up overheating, followed by an F9 error code. I googled it and it looks like it could need a relay control board. I am not sure how to zero in and be sure of what part needs to be replaced. Any idea how to test the temp sensor and the relay control board?

That sounds to me like the relay board is bad and sticking on causing it to overheat. I would unplug the range to be on the safe side until you get it fixed. Let me know what you find.

Hi...I did end up replacing the relay board and the range temp seems to be controlled for the time being. I still would like to know how to test the old relay board to determine and confirm which relay is bad. I would also like to test the new relay board to see how a good board test looks like.

I am glad you got it fixed! There isn't a way to test the relays like you are wanting to do that I know of.
