Model Number: GPF400SGP0WW
Brand: GE
Age: Less than 1 year
Hi all, I have an older, but well working GE portable dishwasher. Unfortunately the tub seal is wearing out where it literally keeps falling out of the channel guide. Most of the time it seals well enough not to leak, but not always (leaks about 1/2 cup of water from the door seal). Normally I would just look up the part number based off the model number but both the model and serial number are partially worn off. What I can read looks like this GPF400SGP0WW. GE wasn't much help and other suppliers couldn't recognize that code. The closest they saw ended in SGFWW instead of SGP0WW which it clearly shows. Regardless, they no longer make a gasket for the SGP0WW.
My question is, are they somewhat universal for those models? And if not, since the gasket section that mates against the door still looks viable, can I use some sort of high temperature food grade silicon to glue the old gasket into the channel guide track?
The channel guide track for the gasket is about 7.5mm wide and about 13mm deep. The gasket itself protrudes out about 5mm. The portion of the gasket that goes into the guide has 3 ribs to grip onto the insides of the channel guide track. Thoughts?
