    spark ignitor going haywire

    Model Number:
    Brand: Brand
    Age: Less than 1 year

Hi all. I have a GE gas cooktop model JGP337BEJ3BB with 4 burners. One of the spark ignitors started going crazy. It was always on constantly rapid firing. I cleaned off all the Spark Electrode Igniters on all 4 burners with rubbing alcohol. The problem persisted but then also another ignitor started to randomly misfire.
I made the assumption the spark module was bad and ordered this"

6544G1001-C GE WB13K25 Gas Range Spark Module

I assemble everything back together and now the sparks are random. Sometimes I turn on burner 1 and ignitor 4 fires off. Turn on burner 2 and ignitor 4 fires off. I take apart and reassemble then 3 out of 4 ignitors fire off from the proper controls and the 4th has no spark. Move things around and try ignitors and i see arcs jumping from where the wires go into the ignitor and up the side of the ignitor. Then sometimes the spark will arc in between the connecting points on the Spark Module itself ( the two closet connector posts) 2 and 3 even though the connectors are fully on.
Sometimes I hear the ignitor going on but the burner won't light. I'm stuck at this point.
    TIA

Usually if the ignitors are always on, it is caused by a bad switch at the burner.

The arcing could be a problem with the spark module. Try re-installing the original to see if that resolve that problem.
