Hi all - thanks in advance for your help!

Our very old Kenmore Dryer (110.96573200) has developed a new problem.

After a drying cycle is complete the buzzer continues to buzz until the dryer door is opened. Also when starting a drying cycle the start button is not needed - basically all I need to do is fully close the door and the cycle will begin (or continue). It is as if the switch for the start button is being continually pressed - and if I remember correctly if you press the start button when the cycle selection dial is "pointing" at a "finished" part of any dry cycle, the buzzer would sound - basically alerting you to the fact that the dial is not pointing to an active drying segment.

Otherwise the dryer is working fine. Thanks for any thoughts!
