Question [FIXED] Amana VMW NTW4516FW3 problem F7E1 and Rinse Light Flashing

    Model Number: NTW4516FW3
    Brand: Amana
    Age: 1-5 years

I am trying to diagnose this washer. The problem is that it would not go into rinse cycle, it will stop and then the rinse light will start flashing and the lid lock light will come on. In order to move forward to be able to rinse I will have to restart the machine and yet it will not ring the clothes very well they are still to wet to go into the dryer.

I followed some youtube videos on how to recalibrate, reset and pull out the codes and clear and this is what I got.

    1. It will not finish the reset or recalibration mode
    2. I pulled out the codes and what I get is a flashing sense fill light and also the rinse, final spin and cycle complete lights flashing which is F7 and then on the same knob location it will also just flash the cycle complete light which means E1. I am assuming that the trouble code is F7E1.
    3. when I move the knob clockwise again until it get into the all the lights flashing I just get the sensing fill light flashing and nothing else, what does this mean?

I now decide to clear all the codes while it was flashing I press the start button until it goes off, done.

    1. I check again for the codes same procedure but this time all the lights are flashing all 5 except for the lid locked light. is this another code? F15? and the next code is no lights except for the cycle complete so this is I assume E1?

I am leaning towards the shift actuator can someone help me please. Thank you

Did you watch the video linked below? The F15 just means that there are no stored error codes.

I am almost sure that my problem is the switch actuator

The F7 E1 Error Code (Tachometer missing or wrong signal) is often caused by a failure of the shift actuator. If it is not the shift actuator, it is usually a failing gearcase that is leaking water/grease residue out of the bottom of the washer. Please let me know what you find.

This is the part for your model washer:

Here is a video showing how to replace the part:

Here is an update I replaced the switch actuator and then re-calibrated the washer and now there are no more error codes. Lucky it was not the gearcase of that would have been more involved. I appreciate this kind of washers now, everything is accessible from the bottom.
