Recently purchased a used dryer, which worked for 3 months, but now itÂ’s not creating heat. It works fine otherwise. Died during a dryer run of towels (1 new) that left a thick lint layer on the filter. Which was also my wife’s third dryer load that, back to back.
I’ve tested the continuity of the parts that I believe to be the thermostat, thermal fuse, and high limit switch, and all beep at me, indicating continuity. For the thermistor, it reads 11.5k at about 72°, and I think that’s right? But I’m not truly certain yet what it should be reading, as I try to find documentation for it, without luck so far.
I’m sure I’m missing something. I’m new to troubleshooting a dryer, but tinker with many electronics, so I’m eager to get my hands dirty. Any guidance would be appreciated. A few hours ago I thought it must be the thermistor, because it had no continuity. But I have been set straight on that. Should I still replace the fuse? Is there a way to tell if one of these things is failing?
