[FIXED] KitchenAid Top Load Washer -- Gear Case won't quite align to mounts

    Model Number: KAWE560WWH3
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: More than 10 years

(See my previous post regarding clunking noise. It got so bad that I ordered a new transmission/gear case from Parts Dr.)
The new transmission is assembled, but the three mounting bolt holes won't allow the tapered mount ends to insert into the gear case. I have watched all the YT videos I could find, and all of them just slide right on. Something must be misaligned, but I can't figure out what it is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you post a picture here of the issue?

Doc, we got it! It took my wife's help. Apparently the shoulder at the top of the agitator shaft (which extends into the tub) was not getting past something (most likely a bearing with tight tolerances). So as I installed the shaft into the machine, she prodded the splined end one way and another (while reaching into the tub area) until the shaft cleared the tight fit. Everything is reinstalled and bolted into place.
    Whew! What an ordeal!

Washer is running, and the QUIET is a song to our ears! Thirty-four years old, and going strong.
I'm becoming my Uncle Don, who fixed everything, meaning that Aunt Lynne never got any new appliances!

Nice job fixing it! Those washing machines are really good, and they last for a very long time.
