Frigidaire Washer+Dryer GLET1031CS Dryer Drum removal

    Model Number: GLET1031CS
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: More than 10 years

On a Frigidaire Washer+Dryer GLET1031CS, how do I remove the Dryer Drum after I have disconnected the belt? I have read that you would use the belt to pull upwards really hard but I don't want to break the belt. Maybe I can slip a long cord underneath and use that instead? And after I pull upwards, do I just pull it forward and the Drum will follow? I also see 3 screws in the center holding the ball bearing assembly but don't know if I need to remove them to remove the Drum.

The rear part of the drum has a ball that sits in a socket. You have to lift the rear of the drum (I find it best to grab the drum) and lift it straight up. After the ball is released from the socket, the drum can be moved forward and out of the dryer.

I have tried lifting the Drum straight up, using either the belt and a cord, but doesn't seem to want to move forward. Is there some sort of a "release" lever of some kind to release the ball from the socket? It shouldn't require that much strength to release the ball from the socket, right?

There is no release lever, it is just held in place by friction within a plastic cup.

You could remove the three screws, those are what holds the ball in place. This should allow you to remove the drum and leave the ball in place. But, you will still want to remove it after the drum is out because that ball and cup usually need to be replaced.
