Frigidaire Washer+Dryer GLET1031CS not running when Starter switch ON

    Model Number: GLET1031CS
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: More than 10 years

I have a stacked Frigidaire Washer+Dryer GLET1031CS. Recently I changed out the heater assembly and now the Dryer won't start when I turn the Starter switch to the ON position. The Dryer hums but when I open the door, push the Door lock button, and manually rotate the Drum clockwise, then the Drum rotates and runs fine by itself. The new heater assembly is producing heat. Could this be a blown Starter switch, or what could be the cause of this issue?

I don't think it is a bad switch. When you had the dryer apart, did you replace any of the front or rear bearings? Does the drive motor rotate freely?

UPDATE: I replaced the Starter switch as the old switch wasn't set to Resistance=infinity when open/off but that didn't fix the issue. I didn't replace any of the bearings, other than replacing the heater assembly. The drive motor does not rotate freely once the belt is on. The Dryer hums but when I open the door, push the Door lock button, and manually rotate the Drum clockwise, then the Drum rotates and runs fine by itself.

Is the rear bearing in good condition? Does the motor rotate freely when the belt is not installed?

I believe the rear bearing is in good condition, what symptoms should I be looking for? And yes the motor does rotate freely when the belt is not installed.

My guess would be that the drum is not rotating freely enough for the dryer to operate properly. The front and rear bearing components on these dryers are common items to wear. If you can post pictures of the rear bearing components, I can see if they look worn. Or, you may not have the dryer assembled properly. Prior to you working on the dryer, did the dryer have this problem?

You may be right about not assembling the dryer properly. I will take a look this upcoming weekend. Thanks for providing these tips.

UPDATE: As a quick test, I disconnected the belt from the dryer drum and tried the Starter switch with no luck. That would indicate it's not a bearing, belt, drum, or motor issue right? In that case, I am left with either the dryer timer switch #131719100 or the thermal fuse #134120900 part that could be bad.

The motor doesn't make any noise when I try to start it, but once I rotate the Drum by hand, then the Drum starts rotating by itself.

Did the dryer use to start on its own before you took it apart and worked on it?

Yes prior to working on the dryer, I didn't had this problem before.
