wrx986sihz00 ice maker quit working

French door Whirlpool refer. Working fine until yesterday when we noted no ice maker production. Put new filter in as it was time for new one, no difference. Glass fill works so that part of valve works fine. Wondering how to test ice maker itself.

Hi Rob,

These ice maker systems are not easy to troubleshoot. You can use the information found in the service Tech Sheet to run some tests.

Most commonly, we see a failure of the ice maker itself cause the problem.

Let me know what you find.

I used the tech sheets and found no error codes. I even bought from you and replaced the ice maker unit. After 24 hours it had still not made ice because it had not filled with water. I used the tech sheet to find ice maker fill test. It worked to fill the ice trays and after 12 hours had ice but it will not eject the ice. When I try to use the ice harvest test, the levers on the ice maker stop when they come into contact with the hard ice. I don't know what else to do?

Hi Rob, I'm sorry to hear that you are still having issues with this. The bottom of the ice maker has a heater in the mold of the ice maker. This heater turns on breifly to allow the ice to freely release from the ice maker during the harvest cycle. It sounds like yours is not heating up when it should.

Looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like it comes down to the ice maker, main control board, or the wiring between the two. Have you inspected the wiring that comes out of the door for any broken wires?
