Whirlpool Compact Dryer

I put in a new heating element and it turned bright orange/red. I think if I wasn't there watching it, it would of caught on fire. I am told the thermostat is part of the new element. Anyone have any idea why this is getting so hot?

Did you have the dryer fully assembled when you were testing it? From what you are describing, it sounds like there is no air flowing over the heating element coils.

Yes, it is all back together. I actually did a full cleaning, took the back of the dryer off and cleaned out all of the excess lint, etc. Maybe I missed something when I put the back of the dyer back together?

If you remove the back vent and turn the dryer on, does it have good airflow coming out of the dryer and does the heating element look less orange? It is normal for the element to glow orange. Can you upload a video to YouTube and link to it here?
