[FIXED] Crazy Water Flow Issue - Electrolux Front Load Washer (ELFW7637BT0)

    Model Number: ELFW7637BT0
    Brand: Electrolux
    Age: 1-5 years

A couple of months ago, our Electrolux stopped sending water to the drum in all cycles, all temps EXCEPT Sanitize. Washer works just fine at this temp; we've managed to trick it into running a shorter cycle by turning it off, then turning it back on after it fills; then it runs for 34 mins instead of the 70+ that goes with Sanitize.

I've run all of the Diagnostic tests -- it passes each and every one with flying colors. I replaced the control board. No change.

    Any ideas?

Which part number did you replace?

Can you explain further what you mean by "stopped sending water to the drum"?

    Thanks

I replaced the Main Board on the advice of a Washer Repairman: Part Number 5304519503

No water flows into/through the tray where you put detergent, softener, etc. It only works properly on Santize.

    Thanks!

To me it sounds like it could be an issue relating to water temperature. Check to make sure the Hot water is connected to the Hot side and Cold to the Cold side. If the washer isn't filling it with hot water due to a failure of the water valve, that could cause the issue. Also, the washer also has a temperature sensor in the hot side of the water valve, if this temperature sensor fails it could cause an issue like what you are experiencing. In the service sheet, test 12 says it should measure around 4.8K ohms. It doesn't specify a temperature, so I am assuming this is testing it at room temperature.

Thanks a ton - It looks like that's the most likely option.

Is it a difficult job to replace a water inlet valve on one of these Electrolux machines?

It's usually not too difficult to replace. If you replaced the main control board, I don't think you should have any issues replacing the water inlet valve. Please keep me updated if this fixes the problem.

So I ordered and replaced the water inlet valves - you were right. Easy to install. The good news: we fixed the problem described above. We're able to run several different cycles. The bad news: it appears that every cycle is being run with hot water. Is my washing machine possessed by evil spirits?!?! Help!

I am glad it is almost fixed. Have you double checked that the hot and cold fill hoses did not get swapped around or the electrical plug to the valve was connected upside down?

Yes!! Apparently, someone who owned this house previously (sometime in the last 100 yrs) decided that a red handle should go with cold water and a blue one with hot. Go figure.

Thanks a ton for your assistance . . . Fixed!!!
