    Very slow drying

    Model Number: LSG7806aae
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: More than 10 years

The drying time has gotten very long, 90 minutes or more for a typical load of one set of bed linens, a couple bath towels, some dish towels, etc. Cleaned the vent, and replaced the thermostat. Loosened the access panel so I could monitor the flame, and found that once it ignites at the start, it burns continuously until the timer gets to the "cool down" cycle at the end. Used a remote digital thermometer to monitor the temperature at the lint screen, and found that it never goes above 104 deg, despite the flame burning continuously. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Which part number thermostat did you replace?

How long is the venting exiting the house?

Thank you for offering to help. The bag says THRMST-FIX 3387134. I ordered it before I investigated, and saw that the flame never went out during the entire drying cycle. I doubt the original thermostat was bad.

The venting is only about six feet long. There's a 90 degree elbow at the dryer outlet, and the vent goes straight up through the roof of an outbuilding. I cleaned the vent, and as much of the internal venting as I could reach from the vent outlet.

Can you watch the flame to see if it is getting sucked in to the tube? Try comparing this when the vent is connected and disconnected to see how it changes.

Were you able to inspect the venting where it exits the building?
