GE front loader washer - slow fill on hot

    Model Number: WCVH6800J1WW
    Brand: Brand
    Age: Less than 1 year

I have a GE front loader that if you try and run it on hot only it will fill too slow and it will time out and shut down. The inlet screen is clean and the pressure at the hookup is excellent. Hoses are new high flow and no kinks. We do have a history of scale getting in aerators which is why I thought of cleaning the inlet screen first but it still fills too slow. Is it possible the water valve isn't opening far enough just on the hot side, or maybe small particles got thru the inlet screen and are caught in there?

Do you have the model number from the tag on the washer available?

I think the model number that you posted is supposed WCVH6800J1WW instead? But, this model washer comes up as a front load washer instead of top load like you mentioned originally.

Dang, That was an error on my part, it is a front loader. Any way to edit my OP? And yes the "I" is supposed to be a "1", another goof by me

Thank you for confirming, I updated your original post for you.

If the water supply to the washer is good, then you are either looking at a failure of the Water Inlet Valve or the control board is not sending proper voltage to the valve for it to work properly. Most of the time, it is a failure of the water inlet valve.

If you are comfortable with doing live voltage tests, you could test the voltage to the valve similar to the process shown in this video here.

Let me know what you find when you get back next week.

Thanks Ryan, I finally had time for testing today. Water pressure is good. Inlet screens are clean. Resistance test shows 1,300 ohms across each solenoid which is what the ones in the video tested. Getting the full 120 volts when commanded. I did notice the cold valve snapped open with a robust sound but the hot valve sounded anemic and may have even been chattering, hard to say exactly. So I guess I need to order a new valve?

I would replace the water valve next if it were mine. The water valve can test okay with a resistance test, but it can still have an internal failure that is not allowing it to work properly. I am guessing that is the issue that you are running into with this one.
