    LG Range Hood Touch Panel

    Model Number:
    Brand:
    Age:

The touch panel on my LG range hood stopped working. Eventually, all of the lights stay lit and the touch panel doesn’t respond. I found that if I remove the capacitance touch controller from behind the frame, it works appropriately. If I reinstall it, it won’t work. I purchased a replacement controller just to be sure that the controller wasn’t the problem. Both controllers work if I just wire them up without installing the controller, but just light up all the lights if I install it in the range hood frame.

My range hood is a LG LSHD3089BD

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

That sounds like a tricky issue. Check your power connections to the vent hood and make sure the vent hood is properly grounded.

When installing the touch control board, does the new part come preinstalled with foam on it to insulate it from the metal hood? They can require precise spacing and insulation to work properly.

Do you have any advice on checking the grounding? The electrical grounding feeding the unit is good (120V), but I believe you may be referring to the grounding within the components of the unit itself.

The unit has been running undisturbed for 6 years.

On the spacing question, the component doesn’t seem to come with any spacing or padding. Neither the replacement part or the part I removed had any.Click image for larger version.

Can you please post a picture of where the power is connected to the vent hood? There should be a green ground wire in that location.

Is that black foam on the plastic housing in the picture you that you posted?
